Attack on Earthby ~SolutionNyne

Digital Art / Drawings / Sci-Fi

So another Mass Effect drawing!

This is a Reaper attack on a major Earth city. Not sure which one exactly. As I was drawing it I was kind of imaginging a future Pittsburgh, maybe. Some kind of industrial city, anyways.

All was done with Photoshop CS5.

You know, it's really weird (and funny) to see that those people at the landing pad just standing there calmly and do nothing while a Reaper in front of them is obviously destroying everything on its path.

Yeah, I originally had them firing shots at it, but it just wasn't working. The angle of it was weird and I don't think they'd actually be firing rifles at it anyways. I thought then that maybe I would put a harvestor or something in the foreground for them to be fighting with, but it blocked the reaper and made it too busy, so he had to come out. lol So instead they are just looking thoughtfully at it!

I wonder what they thought in their minds at that time?

Maybe it's like:

"Oh, that Reaper's hull design seems different than the rest. It's more like an insect than a squid."
"Maybe it's their leader? Every two kilometer-long Reaper we see in front us has squid-like design than this one."
"Or maybe it's their.....I don't know. Second-in-command? It's possible, you know?"

Or

"Wait, wasn't that Murphy's apartment down there? Why that Reaper hasn't destroy it yet?"
"I don't know. Maybe that thing has a bad aim?"
"If that Reaper has a bad aim, then every apartment down there should be obliterated by now. Besides, I hate to live there. Too noisy."

Probably the second conversation, or perhaps there was a good Chinese place down there that they liked to go to when they got off of work.

Maybe they'd say, "Maybe we should go use that shuttle to see if 'Panda Amazing' is alright."
"It's gone man. I saw that thing step on it. Broccoli Beef everywhere."
"Oh."

Hey, why don't you write that in the description of your art. It might attract more people to add their comments; about how the dialogue correlates with the people standing calmly on the landing pad.

If I have a minor gripe, and yes it is minor, then the angle of the reaper beam doesn't sit quite right.

Like the source of the beam doesn't quite fit the trajectory.

You are hugely talented, though, and I'd love to see more!
